We both woke up several times during the night last night, as the winds really picked up and the motorhome was rocking when the stronger gusts hit. I wasn't too sure of our chances of moving on today, but when we got up in the morning the winds had subsided a bit. So we packed up quick and were on the road by 7:30, a record for us on this trip. It's good we got going when we did, because by the time we reached the Badlands, our next and final destination, the winds were getting really strong again. Luckily they were coming out of the northwest, giving us a really good tailwind, and probably helping our gas mileage a bit. With the motorhome, we'll take all the help we can get.
As I mentioned we are now just outside of Badlands National Park, the final destination on our trip. Tomorrow will be our last day of sightseeing, and Saturday we'll begin our long trek home.
We are staying in a nice campground just south of the park. It has a large dog park, the nicest one we've come across so far on our trip, and the girls enjoyed running loose there.
Tomorrow we plan on touring Badlands National Park as well as visiting Wall Drug, the most popular roadside attraction in the country. If we have time we may also stop by the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, where you can tour an actual nuclear missile site from the Cold War days.
